iNTRODUCTiON Upward Bound is nation-wide college preparatory program for high school students funded by the U.S. Department of Education for approximately 30 years. It has been a City program since 1977. Upward Bound provides academic counseling, mentoring, tutoring and college bound experiences and prepares students for future education and work. The students are made up of a diverse group; ethnically, culturally and academically. Students are selected from six Seattle Public High Schools, which include: Ballard High School Chief Sealth High School Garfield High School Ingraham High School Rainier Beach High School West Seattle High School
